Four blankets – that’s how much it took to get warm. Or, when I was feeling particularly frigid, one giant sherpa comforter that acted as more of a shelter than a blanket.
The truth is, having an inefficient heating unit in your home can turn a relaxing environment into a house you crave to escape.
This happened to me at my last residence.
My apartment was on the lowest floor and there was only one general heating system for the entire house. This meant that all the heat that could’ve stayed with me rose to the third floor. As a result? The top floor residents kept lowering the heat (and I couldn’t blame them) and the bottom floor resident (me) kept getting colder.
I wore gloves and sweatshirts in both winter and summer.
My coworkers often thought it was bizarre when I would walk into the office on a 90-degree-day with a jacket wrapped around my body. I explained to them that I was still “thawing out”, and by the time I finally warmed up at the end of my shift, I was ready to go back into the frozen tundra, that same jacket slung over my shoulders.
Pervasive heat can be a longshot if your system isn’t equipped with the right heating units for your home. Correctly sized and installed heating components and systems can not only save energy, but also provide effective heating to your whole house.
This might mean installing multiple heating solutions in order to get that comfortable, even heat you desire. Basements, sunrooms, and bonus rooms have varying heating, cooling and ventilation needs, which means that a heating system that doesn’t suit your home can leave you with patches of cold and hot throughout your rooms and floors.
Frigid winter nights (or even summer nights in my case) are held at bay by energy efficient heating systems operating at optimal capability.
Thankfully, if you don’t have even heating in your home – there is a solution!
